Does Net Send Lite work with Windows Vista, Windows 2008, Windows 7 or Windows 10?
We have tested Net Send Lite on Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows 2008, Windows 7 and Windows 10 and Net Send Lite the software does not work. Microsoft has removed the Messenger Service from the set of Microsoft services is adds by default to the operating system system. The Messenger Service is the protocol for which Net Send Lite uses to transport its message data. Without this service, our Net Send Lite will not work.
Thanks a lot Microsoft.
You might be wondering why did Microsoft remove Net Send ability in Windows Vista, Windows 2008, Windows 7, Windows 10?
They claim it was for security reasons. The Messenger Service protocol could be used to spam users by sending "net send" messages which appear as message text boxes on the receiving end computer. The winpopup protocol does not have any authentication or security, which allows pop up windows to obstruct users desktops on windows. The only way out was for Microsoft to remove net send completely from all newer versions of Windows.
We have talked about creating a version of Net Send Lite that creates its own protocol (TCP/IP or NetBios or something), but at this point the demand is low for Net Send Lite.....thus it is not lucrative enough for us to spend the time. If we get enough "Donations" (see left side bar), we might be convinced.
